I hate red. Not sure why but I find it almost personally offensive. All my clients know I’ve never been a fan. HOWEVER, red is a big color this season.
First and foremost, if we are going down this path and feel like we just have to wear red…let's not wear it with jeans. Lets not wear a red top with black pants either…hurts my eyes!!! And if you must wear red, I suppose go monochromatic in different shades. Try colors like burgundy, plum, and aubergine! They are still part of the family but not shouting out red. The key is to wear it blended, not standing on its own but rather into an outfit as if it is a basic color. For example, coupling a burgundy bottom with a red or blush top. It blends and mutes the contrast which makes it more chic. More palatable.
My styling and aesthetics generally tends towards the classic, with a mix of trend. Just a touch. So this season, I’ve embraced this trend by doing exactly as I just said. I’m styling clients with burgundy plum pants with the aforementioned blush/pink top (below). OR incorporating it through shoes- using the aubergine/plum shoes in place of brown shoes. Again, think of different shades. You are the artist and your body is the canvas….
